Passive against crime
British people are the least likely in Europe to be “have-a-go heroes” and get involved if they witness a crime, research from a think tank claims. The public policy group Reform says that Britons have become “passive bystanders” in the fight against crime.
But is it any wonder? Every week we read about what happens to ‘have-a-go hereos’ when they try to intervene with incidents of crime. I don’t want to live in a society where we’re too frightened to do anything about what we see, but that’s what our society has become.
